Classes

In the Columbia Area:

Dress in whatever makes you comfortable, just make sure that you can move easily in it. A gentle suggestion: you can see more of the subtleties of what you’re doing if you can see your midriff, though it’s not required.

Classes are drop in and drop out, and you may start at any time! We do not run in sessions.

Tuesdays, 6:30-7:30 PM. $10

All Tuesday classes are taking place at the Center For Dance Education satellite studio in the Old Mill in Lexington, SC: 711 E. Main St. It’s down in the basement past the coffee shop and across from the used bookstore.

Intermediate American Tribal Style (ATS) class

In this class, learn cues and variations for the week’s fast and slow move, leading and following concepts, formations, duets and other special topics. Intermediate class is recommended to students with at least 8 weeks of Basics ATS instruction.

Tuesdays, 7:30-8:30 PM. $10

Advanced technique bellydance class:

This is an accelerated class by invitation only. Please contact Natalie Brown before joining this class to make sure that this class is appropriate for your knowledge and fitness level.

This class starts with intense warmup, conditioning and stretching, followed by isolation drills, layering technique, and advanced ATS drills and open dance. Please bring zils, kneepads and a notebook.

Wednesdays, 7-8 PM. $10, class is all levels and is offered on a drop in drop out basis.

All-levels American Tribal Style (ATS) class:

In this entry-level class, you’ll do a warm up and stretch, work on Taxim, learn a slow move from ATS slow vocabulary and a fast move from ATS fast vocabulary. If you have zils (finger cymbals), bring them, as we’ll work on zilling and dancing the last ten minutes.

Aug 11: Slow Spins and Cabaret Shimmy
Aug 18: Body Wave and Turkish Shimmy
Aug 25: Maya (reverse Taxim) and Sununda

Thursdays, 7-8 PM. $10
All Thursday classes are currently taking place at Gyrotonic Vista, 911 Lady St., Suite H, Columbia, SC. Turn into the alley and go in the door in the side of the building. $10 per class, classes are offered continuously on a drop in anytime basis

Tribal Fusion technique for all levels

It’s the kitchen sink class. Learn how to access and isolate muscle groups, refine movements and learn different methods of technique coming from American Tribal Style, Tribal Fusion, Suhaila Salimpour and other styles and formats of bellydance.
